Nantwich, UK – 30 May 2022: Cheshire Botanicals, the family-run craft spirits business, today added a third member to its award-winning range of premium gins. Available in both 20cl and 70cl bottles, Nantwich Sweet Briar Gin is a refreshing pink gin; its natural blush colour derived from an infusion of English blackberries and geranium flowers, with no added sugar, artificial colours or flavours.
New Nantwich Sweet Briar Gin joins Cheshire Botanicals' original London Dry and Matron's Strength gins.
With an ABV of 38%, Sweet Briar is perfect for sipping, served over ice, or with Fever Tree Original tonic and garnished with a sprig of mint. The English blackberries that give Sweet Briar its natural colour elevate the warm floral tones and signature juniper of the original Nantwich Gin London dry, adding a hint of bright, fruity flavours that create thoughts of bramble thickets and wild, rosy hedgerows. It’s the perfect complement to long summer days (or sparking sun-kissed memories as the nights draw in). Joining Cheshire Botanicals’ original London dry Nantwich Gin and Matron’s Strength Nantwich Gin on the shelf, fans can now choose the perfect tipple to suit their taste or occasion.
Holly Challinor, Director of Cheshire Botanicals commented: “We’ve been working on a number of different ideas to expand the Nantwich Gin range but when we asked our customers, they voted overwhelmingly for a pink gin, as a light and refreshing option for all seasons. Creating the blush pink as naturally as possible took a bit of time as we explored a number of plants and fruits in different concentrations before finding the perfect blend of ingredients. After lots of different combinations, we found that blackberries and geranium flowers produced the ideal colour and flavour profile when combined with the other natural botanicals and we’ve been delighted by the feedback from our early sampling.”
Nantwich Sweet Briar Gin nods to another of Nantwich’s historical residents, Joseph Priestley, who lived in Sweetbriar Hall during his time in the town. Priestley invented the carbonation process and without him, the humble G&T might look very different today. John Gerard, the 16th Century royal herbalist also wrote about local rose cultivars including the Sweet Brier Rose found in the hedgerows of England.
